    Default Rebuild question

So my car threw a rod bearing at 87k. Took the engine out and discovered metal in the oil pan and filter. Now its time for a rebuild.

Sent the engine to a local rebuilder to assess the damage and give me some options.

What parts should I order while im waiting for my engine? I know im gonna need a new water pump, clutch, etc. is there anything else im going to need at this milage?

    Default

It seems at least once a week, someone posts that he's spun a rod bearing. Seems to be the weakest point in the short block.

I firmly believe the factory clearances are too tight. When time comes to have mine re-built I plan to have the clearances opened up to .0025 on the first four mains and .0025" on the rods, I'm going with.003 on the #5 main. ARP rod bolts too.

Have your rods re-sized and install ARP rod bolts.
