Another Opti or Jumped Timing?
--UPDATE--
Ok I did a few more tests today;
1) I have spark at the coil to Opti
2) I have no spark at the plugs. I used the same tester and it worked at the coil but I was getting no spark at the plugs.
Now here is where its weird, the car is TRYING to start and its back firing but I have no spark on 2 plugs I test (Drivers side rear 2)
I am not sure what to make of this, Obviously the ICM and Coil are fine what do you guys think? Still a bad Opti and its just firing on some cylinders enough to make it back fire loudly or something else?
------------
Alright guys I am trying to figure out what happened.
Car is the one in my Sig, I did a dig pull 1st gear 6500, 2nd 6000 and got a big bang car shut off. When I tried to restart it nothing, it seems to try, then when giving it gas it will back fire what sounds to be through the intake almost.
I am leaking nothing, My Wideband was reading the fuel was good.
I have a Dynaspark Opti, I am looking up the warranty now but this would be the 3rd Opti in 3 months. The first to it killed AC Delco's blowing the rotor apart inside the Cap.
However since it just died and never restarted those other times I think its something else.
I will check the ICM and Coil just for the hell of it... but I think it seems like a timing issue... which makes me cringe that means the heads are probably holding bent valves... I just hope the pistons are ok... The motor has less than 19000 on it so this is more than a little upsetting.
Thoughts are greatly appreciated. I will be setting a plan and pulling it apart tomorrow.Last edited by Cross; 07-13-2009 at 04:16 PM.

I trashed a rotor in my Dynaspark using the 847 cam. You may want to look into thier rotorless GenIII unit. I have one along with a Delteq. http://www.dynaspark.net/products/

So the 847 can cause problems with Opti's blowing rotors because both my other Opti's did that.
I just made on offer on a Delteq system tonight. I still need to have the Dynaspark converted but if they will then maybe I should have solved the problem.
Anyway about the 847 is it common for it to cause rotor's to fly apart?Denny Crane /Rotary = Fail\

I doubt it's just the cam. I think Dynaspark uses stock rotors and they just don't seem to like spinnng much over stock rev limits.

I was reading about that too. I am thinking about the Gen III version and Delteq system but not sold on it yet. I have been thinking about it all day.
Do you mind giving me your thoughts on yours and how long you have been using it, how it feel's etc?
ThanksDenny Crane /Rotary = Fail\

Cross, I've been following your build problems both here and on ls1, it's a shame you cant get this car running right. Don't give up on it.

It got close today, I found an LS1 99 TA but I am sticking with this LT, I know it will be fine but I have to find this issue.
She is almost to what I would call finished, Heads is my last big thing and after that its really ready to be a cruiser. But until this Opti issue is solved I am just not going to be able to trust it.
Either way I am holding in just trying to find the best way to stop this Opti Problem once and for all. I found a Delteq system I just want to make sure its the right choice this time.
Since my Dynaspark Opti is still sending high and low signal I am wondering how hard it would be to convert it to a Gen 3 on my own.
Either way thank you windsofthor and everyone else here and on LS1tech, its a great community and I have no intention of leaving it.Last edited by Cross; 07-12-2009 at 07:03 PM.

Ok took longer than normal but I have the opti off, the crank pulley refused to come off.
However when I spin the Opti it gets stuck so its def another Opti failure of the Rotor shattering.Denny Crane /Rotary = Fail\

I've had no ignition problems since going with the Dynaspark III and the Delteq. My biggest problem right now are my heads (ported stock LT1s). I really want to go with the new AFR 195 LT4s and the Edelbrock intake. I'm only putting down 356 at the wheels, but the 3500 convertor is part of the low numbers..... http://ltxtech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2948&page=2
