directv on demand
do any of you guys or gals have directv on demand? if so can you help me,,i have dsl high speed and hd dvr,,do i connect dvr to modem or do i have to get a router?

You will need a router if you are connecting to the DVR box and to a PC/laptop. Just run an ethernet cable from your router into the Directv set top box.
If your router is in another room, you can get wireless ethernet adapters. It's easy.
After setting it up, you need to go into the menu and set up the connection in the "parental fav's and setup" tab. I've been professionally installing home theater equipment for years, and I install DirecTV boxes all the time.Last edited by LT1Blackbird; 06-16-2009 at 08:04 PM.

cool man,,thanks for the help...guess i was unclear about the difference between a modem and a router..i have a dsl modem and didnt know if i could just plug the dvr right into my modem,,but i see that it only has 1 ethernet port and my pc is plugged into it
