fourth gen t-top conversion
i was at a local junk yard today picking up misc. interior parts i needed for my Z. i found what i needed but while i was out there i saw quite a few 4gen t-top cars out there. i have always loved t-top cars and my car has everything i was except its not a t-top car.so i went to the talk to the counter guy and he told me he coould sell me everything (roof, headliner, etc) for $125, not including the actual t-tops.i have an uncle who can do the work. he is an awesome painter/body work artist. he does things right. his brother builds tube frame race car chassis so motor oil runs through their veins.in fact i sold my uncle an 82 mustang t-top shell i had and he swappped the top over to his sons 93 gt. it looked like it came right out of the factory like that. it was perfect.what are your thoughts. im saving up for a paint job but would not mind waiting a little longer and saving up cash to do the swap.gimme ur ideas.

you don't need a roof. you only need the t-tops, headliner, brackets for the tops at each corner, center trim piece for the roof, the weatherstripping and the 4 plastic interior pieces. your car is already a t-top. it just has a composite roof over it. the rear roof panel is slightly different but there is no way you could get that piece off a car without destroying it and the only difference is the trim under where the tops are which can be moulded in. here is a how to from ls1tech. I'm glad my car came with t-tops from the factory (i wasn't going to settle for anything other than a trans am with t-tops and i wanted black)

First post over here, I just did this conversion 2 weeks ago. Here is a link to mine, it includes some videos as well as pics and links to the tutorials I used. It took me about 24 hours over 3 days.

I'd like to see the opposite...t-top to hardtop roof. I might do that.
