Actually I'm gonna contradict myself here and admit I've done more research than when I first posted in your thread.

I think the reason people blindly recommend LT's is because they dont have experience with anything else and it's tough to go wrong with them because they will add power over stock manifolds of course, no matter what your setup.

I think it's better to match your headers to your mods though for best performance. That being said, take a look at the RK Sport, or AZ speed n marine headers.

They are technically a mid lenght but 1 3/4" and are the longest midtubes you can get.

There is a guy on LS1t who had hooker long tubes and true duals, and he went from that setup to AZSM headers and a Y-pipe and supposedly picked up 40hp.

I'll admit that 40hp peak might be hard to believe but he speculated that for his mods (bolt ons) the hookers were too much, didn't provide enough back pressure and basically the car just didnt need that much header.

I'll see if I can find the thread for you.

My opinion, is that AZSM type mid tubes (NOT talking bbk shorties here lol) will make the same peak power on a car all the way up to cam only, and probably MORE area under the curve. Resulting in a better running "quicker", more fun to drive street car.

He said in another post he picked up either 35 or 40 hp. Still looking for that one

I think that's pretty good. I'm going for power under the curve. Lots and lots of mid range and a powerband that pulls all the way from the bottom.

I could care less about peak hp but the AZSM headers seem to make the same as LT's with more midrange.

I vote for those in your situation.
