Cam suggestion
Hey guys. Long story short, I began building my 383 several years ago when the "306" Comp Cam was the rage. I bought one, used it until my '95 Z28 burned (not the engine compartment). So now I've got my 1996, gonna put my engine in it but am thinking 'bout swapping cams so I can have the advantage of a cam developed with "newer technology". I was thinking 'bout a Comp XFI CCA-07-467 280/288 duration & .576"/.570" lift. Also thought about having one custom ground. What do ya'll think? If there is another cam you all use with similar combos with great results please chime in. This is an A4 car by the way. Might as well suggest a stall as well, I'm used to the M6, maybe 2800-3000?.
My engine: Forged 383 LT1, TEA Stage II heads (Peak CFM intake 261.3 @ .550/exhaust 230.8 @ .600), stock intake port matched to heads, 52mm TB (will be going to a 58mm), 30lb SVO injectors (should I use 36lb to prevent possible lean condition on top end?), Racetronix fuel pump kit, Dynatech 1 3/4" headers, Borla cat back, !cats, !ERG, Fluidamper balancer, LT4 Extreme Duty timing set, yada yada...

Your best option would be a custom grind if thats with in your budget. The 306 is still a good grind, is it old technology?..yes but it still gets the job done. 36lb injectors would be a good selection and a 3000 stall or higher stall would work out great as well. Good luck.

306 is a very nice cam and always will be. many have had great success with it Javier www.zmydust.com and Clint http://www.gmhightechperformance.com..._am/index.html this cam will always have a spot! there are newer designs that will do the same job with less duration but that will be left to the combination you choose.......
