Ok you passed but failed. huh?
Guys and gals I almost forgot to tell you! Finally fixed my fuel in oil problem in my LUV truck. For those who don't know I picked up a decent running 80 LUV for $300 so I could use it for work. Anyway started getting fuel in the oil so I rebuilt the carb and did a full tune up and that seemed to fix that. On to the topic at hand! About 15 days ago I get a notice from the city inspector saying that I had to get my truck current tags or they would tow it. No prob! I get it fixed and running right then this Sat I go to emmisions. I'm wating in line and finally it's my turn and the cutie gets my info and gets in the truck for the test. A few min later I hop back into the truck pull up to the next station and wait for the results. The guy there opens my hood and begins to look for something. Ok? "hey jimbob c'mere!" he says and I think "whats going on?". Now I have not one but two, YES TWO, dumbasses looking under my hood. Hmmm. Then after a few minutes of searching and not finding what it was they were looking for that they didn't find cause I guess it fell off or was never there in the first place but whatever it is that they are looking for they can't find it!
(whew, breath) So after a few frustrating minutes and I think they are going to tell me something the one guy looks at me then then turns away and says "hey billy ray! c'mere!" Wuuu? Great! Now I have moe, larry and curly looking under my hood for what seemed like forever!
Huuuuu!! Finally the guy grabs the emissions sheet looks over at me and says "sir you passed but failed." Ok, great thank WOT!?!?!? What does that mean? And I thought these guys were underpaid!?!? Ok I go into the office and the guy explained to me that I was missing an evap canister. Oh.....It was there a minute ago.
After all that. The truck passed everything but because it didn't have the evap it failed. Well, back to the drawing board!!

Anything older than a 95 dosnt need to pass emissions here. Maybe theres just to many cars, also every test Ive been to with an OBD2 car,, they dont even look they just plug it in and if the computer doesnt have stored codes your good to go.
I cant beleive they still make you take an 1980 in for emissions and will tow you if you dont get tags for it? Is it in the street or something?

Once again I had a good laugh at it.
When I had my apartment, the Camaro tags had expired and they threatened to tow it because it "looked" bad to have a car sitting there with bad tags. Like people drive through the parking lot to see if people are keeping up on their tags or not.

No sir! It's parked on my car port right next to my Monte. (see pic) A friend of mine is going to pull one off of his broke down trucks he has and I fab it up and make it work. He's a ford guy and its a ford truck but don't tell anyone. I wouldn't want to get black balled by the Chevy community.

That sucks.
I WISH pre-95 didn't get emissions inspected here... my truck would be legal
It's older than 25yrs that get the basic safety inspection (lights, horn, wiper).-Duane-

yea my 93 doesn't get emissions tested back in NY, just a visual... but I know the shop owner so even though I don't have a cat or EGR equipment I still pass

My friend brought the evep to my work so when I got home I mounted it and ran the hoses then took back down for a run. PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS!!! This little engine runs cleaner than my LT1 and it has more than 4 times the miles on it!! Guess Isuzu makes a great little engine.
