You do realize you can get identical aluminum heads from an F-Body LT1? Doesn’t need to be a Corvette. The Corvette does have the 4-bolt mains, but that’s not really an issue if you are just looking for 400-450 HP (although, is that HP goal at the flywheel or at the rear wheels?). I sold my original factory LT1 heads to a member here for $200.

Deffinatly not worth it to go LS if you only want that little of power, I've seen several 383 builds with le2 heads put down that.
Don't forget you will need to change transmissions or tear yours apart because the input shaft is different. Unless they have made some kinda conversion since the last time I looked.

Mike... u know Im diehard LTX... But let me give u my 2 cents.
If ur goals are 400hp, a good lt build is fine, and easier. No harness mess, no conversion mess, just pull urs out and put the new one in.
With that being said, tuning can be a pain, but we have Moe. Lol. If i remember correctly u planned to go 24x conversion anyways, so that makes tuning a non issue.
Now if ur looking to continuously grow in hp, the lsx has a much better following for parts support and upgrades. But with that ur changing alot of stuff for the conversion.
You are the only one that cam decide what u want to see when u open the hood, cause the only week part is the opti and parts support to just keep it ltx.

Should have bought an LS1 to start with. The LT1 can be built up plenty. It really is an amazing platform to build from.

Like Popo said, if you want 400-450rwhp N/A. It will be easier to stay LT1, but if you want more go LS.
It will cost you more than you think going LS unless you can find used parts for a good price.
If you like all new parts the LS swap will cost you more.
Im just starting a LS3 swap, so I know what you will go through.
Sometimes I wish I stayed LT1. I love the sound and it would have been easier to finish my build.93 Z28, 383, PI 3200, Strange 12 bolt, 3.73, Strange coilovers, suspension, and going 24X... for three years or so.
