$/HP starts getting really high when you abandon the stock bottom end. For example, adding $2000 heads and cam on a stock shortblock can add 100rwhp, or $20/hp. Going to a 383 with that same top end may give 40-50hp, but costs $3000, so about $60/hp. You can make some of that back up with a stronger bottom end by now adding a 150 shot for $1000, with a grand total of 200 extra hp for $4000, or about $20 per hp. Then however you need to add a new rear end because although that 10 bolt may survive at 400, it's toast at 600, so tag on another $2500 for a rear end and driveshaft. You'll also eclipse 11.49 so add $1000 for a cage, big old exponential curve

Suspension, you might make your HP goals, now to put it to the ground, you will need stiffer suspension parts, shocks, driveshaft, rear end ect, now start saving up for all that, what ever stock trans you have will grenade at those HP numbers with a dead hook, so add that, another words dig deep into your pockets, cause its gonna cost you $$$$

I already have a Quick Performance 9 in and I got a cage that just needs to get installed I do need to change out my shocks and eventually do some tubular a arms and k member, I have a t56 so I know those can handle some power I haven't really looked into the transmission ratings just yet I know my clutch can handle it.

If you get on Arp Web site they have a specific bolt kit, then you ad a main stud kit, center three splayed main caps( manufacturer of your choice) ARP head studs.
