Default No ABS inop light, ABS not working

Not sure what's going on exactly. ABS inop is not on, but it won't engage ABS. The pedal gets hard before it feels like it should. Fluid is good, and the pads shouldn't be too worn. Car does not have TCS. Anyone experience anything like this before or have any ideas?

Edit: The ABS Inop light is not burned out. Light turns on with ignition.

I have seen the power assist brake booster go bad and this happen. Check the brake booster.

Basic booster checks seemed all good.

How do you know it isn't working? Have you tried an emergency stop to see if the lamp comes on to indicate an ABS "event"?

Yep. From 45 MPH I did a test emergency stop. Saw the Low Trac light come on, but didn't feel the ABS doing anything. The pedal stopped dead. It was in the rain and it didn't really feel like it locked any wheels either.

It's supposed to prevent the locking of the wheels. I was mistaken about the light; it is the Low Trac light that indicates an ABS event.

Alright thanks for clarifying that. I'm going to do a fluid flush since its pretty old and see if that has any effect on it.

Turns out ABS was working fine. I just couldn't feel it in the same way I did my other car, so I got thrown off.
