now here is the struggle i am working on ... per comp i need to have about 1/4 to 1/2 a turn of preload on the rockers to keep the lifters happy , the measurements i took were at zero lash and no preload ... because that do i need to run the 7.150s?

If you figured out length with an adjustable pushrod and measured with a caliper then remember to subtract 0.15-0.020 when you go to order. The mfg gauge length is slightly shorter because of the curvature of the ends. For example, my Howards 7.150" pushrods measure 7.168" on my caliper. If you didn't use the adjustable when you found 7.1 then ignore this.

You have to add preload at the lifter to pushrod length after that. 1/4 to 1/2 turn on a 7/16 stud is 0.0125-0.025" at the stud which comes out to 0.02-0.04" at the lifter.

If you used an adjustable PR and measured with a caliper then 7.1 with 1/4 turn is perfect.
