Removal of auto transmission. quick question.
hey guys i have to remove my dads auto trans in his 97 dodge ram 1500, its a 46Re, ive removed manual transmissions before so im familiar with the general methods. the only question i have is should i remove the converter with the trans or should i leave it bolted to the flexplate and slide the trans out like i would a clutch assembly? or does it make a difference? thanks guys im doin this tommorrow.

ive always left the converter on the trans

I have always removed the converter with the trans. I'm not a fan of leaving the converter hanging off the back of the crank.

Usually you take the converter with the trans and reinstall with the trans.
I know with 60es you can hurt the pump wrangling the trans off the converter mounted to the motor.
