Default nitrous refilling and waste gases?

I'm new to nitrous...im sure my title is confusing.

I'm wondering about nitrous filling...and if you ever need to empty the bottle out completely to get out "waste gases" like compressed air or whatever, to make sure you have all nitrous.

Last week i filled my bottle with the last bit of the mother tank.
Now when i ran last night, it ran good for a decent amount of runs, but then i started to run more rich, and lose some time as the night went on. even though everything was the same including bottle pressure. I also only made about five full nitrous passes, so i know there is still plenty in the bottle.

So i'm guessing i need to empty the last 5 lbs or so of stuff out of this bottle and fill it up again with our new mother bottle. I just hate to waste it...it could be something else completely with the car, but all the factors seem to be the same.

I did notice when i let the last bit out of the mother tanks it acted like it was just compressed air....it wasn't liquidy and freezing like nitrous.

Anyway, thanks for the advice as always guys.

Unless the bottle has ever been completely open to atmosphere for a while it won't have any air or moisture in it. If it has you could empty it and use a vacuum pump to evacuate it. The only other thing I could recommend is making sure you purge your hose from the mother tank before filling the smaller bottle.

thank you sir. I dont really know the history of these bottles...so who knows. I changed my wires today, cause i knew i was having a small misfire sometimes...and had a wire completely broke in half so maybe thats what was going on. Also when i went out test driving, i decided to check the nitrous again...and couldnt get the pressure up above 900 so maybe i used more nitrous than i thought. I will weigh it tomorrow and go from there

After 5 passes ur bottle may be getting a bit low. I don't like to run mine under 20 lbs, full being 24-25 depending on what bottle im using. And if the bottle is getting low ur bottle psi may start the run the same but decrease a lot faster.

Well that's what it was. bottle was getting low. I didnt realize i had used that much lol. It was at 17 lbs when i weighed it today, so thats like three pounds of gas.
Thanks for the advice guys. I thought it was just bottle pressure but today i sprayed it after filling with like 850 pressure and it still hit hard.

So now ill try to run on a close to full bottle...
and now i need a second bottle lol.
I have this crazy 50lb one...maybe ill just run it strapped down in my trunk. lol

Good deal. Curious though, what do you pay for a mother tank?

Yea ya can never have too many bottles! If I'm Goin to a racing even and will be making a good amount of passes I'll take 3 or 4 full bottles. And bring the stuff I need to transfer nitrous from bottle to bottle

The two I just got were like 250ish each. 75 lbs of gas in each .It added up to like 3.50 a lb through airgas. When I called they said you had to rent their tanks, but I guess that was wrapped into the price. The ticket only showed gas.

I talked to a friend after that though, he works at a local nascar team. He said he could get a 50lb bull tank for 82 dollars through them...im not sure how true that is, and i assume they will still require a rental.
