what solid lifter for push rod length checking?
I got the LE2 h/c/i treatment and just got around to buying Ultra Pro Mag 1.6 rr's. I need to figure my push rod length and I was wanting to do the solid lifter method, since my intake is off and my heads are already assembled. The lunati lifters I have in the engine have a 2.66" seat height. I can't find a solid lifter anywhere that is the same. Should I just use any solid lifter and subtract the difference in seat height between the two and just add that distance to the pushrod length? This has been bugging me all day at work. I searched on forums and google and couldn't find what solid lifter works.

Use a $15 set of checking springs, instead of your regular valve springs. They won't have enough pressure to depress any regular hydraulic lifter. They have about as much pressure as the spring in a ballpoint pen.

Just make sure the "solid" lifter that you use has the pushrod cup at the same ht as the actual lifter that you are going to run.

Proform make a PR check tool for around $12 that is very simple to use. I have compared results with the old PR length tool and this and same results. You do not need a solid lifter or soft spring to use it. Very plug & play. Just a feeler gauge to measure, if any, the distance between tool and valve tip to +/- a PR length
they come in 3/8 & 7/16 size
