    Default Brake help/questions

Hey guys, so my brake pedal on my car will make a pop/boing/spring kind of sound when you press on it hard. When it happens, the brake light comes on, and when you tap the brakes again, it goes out. Right now, it looks like the brake booster is on its way out, as that is one of the signs. But myself and another person are puzzled as to why the brake light comes on. There are no electrical connectors going to the Master cylinder just on inspection. The car has stock LT1 brakes, is a 97 as well. Anybody got an idea?

Today on my way to school, the ABS INOP light was on the entire trip. When I got to school, I restarted the car and it went out. ABS INOP light rarely comes on. I've only seen it on a couple times. I'll clean or replace the sensors when I do my brake job this winter. Thanks @tleed

Inspect the wiring that runs down the passenger side shock tower down to the sensor on that front hub. I had an issue with burning some of those wires on the headers a while back. This isn't something that would make the sounds you are referring to but would make the ABS light come on, but would usually stay on too though if they were burnt and shorting out. I believe there's also a bushing in the brake pedal assembly, it that bushing is falling apart you might feel something.

I'm about 90% sure its the brake booster that is causing the boing in the brake pedal.
I had the same kind of issue with the Brake light coming on but that car had a separate light for abs. I believe it is just an abs sensor because the brake light doesn't always come on when the boing happens.
I'll look into how to replace the booster and do it soon. I'll also go over the wiring and check it out. Thanks for the responses
