Ok, so the O2 Sensor Wiring is fixed, and the car is in the tuning process! I will keep you all updated, but HOPEFULLY I will be picking her up from the shop this weekend and bringing her home! I will not be able to race this year at the LTX Shootout, but as long as nothing goes wrong, I will make every effort to be there with the car and at LEAST enter it in the car show and hang out with everyone! I will not have the rear end or suspension ready for racing at ALL this year.

Keep forgetting to update this. My bad. Last time I tried to I wrote out a huge long update o my to watch it disappear and j had to start over...kind of lost my motivation and didn't have time to redo it at the time lol. So here goes another attempt.
So a lot has happened since my last update...shortly after we got the O2 wiring fixed and got back I to tuning I got the call that all he needed to do was 2 hours of tuning and I could take her home. So, I headed down to Denver to help with tuning and pick her up. Got there and we went to start her up and nothing....she would turn over, but no spark. So we started diagnosing the ignition system.
New coil and icm and still nothing. Started pinning out the icm harness and I was getting no signal out of my Mallory Box. At the time, my ignition system was composed of: Delphi Opti, MSD Blaster 2 Coil, Mallory Hyfire Ignition Control Box, and a relocated ICM. I came to the conclusion that the Mallory Box had gone out, so I opted to pull it out and go back to the stock ignition for the time being. As I dug into the wiring to unhook the box, I found a whole NEW bag of problems. Instead of buying the proper harness adapters, the previous owner had clipped all of the factory connectors, and then hardwired the ignition box into the car. So I ordered new pigtails, and when they arrived I ripped my wire loom apart and installed them. Once that was done I could finally wire up a stock coil and crank her over. She fired right up like nothing was ever wrong, so I buttoned everything up, mounted the new coil, and turned it back over to the tuner. Now on to the next problem.
As he was doing the final tune he started having a LOT of problems getting the AFR right....it started having trouble idling and started leaning out a ton, especially at WOT. My first thought was fuel pump, and I was pretty certain of it, but after a little more tinkering, my buddy told me he thought it was the opti. Now generally when someone blames the opti I can prove it isn't the problem, but I trust this guy so we opted to conduct an experiment. He ordered the cheapest O'Reillys opti available and let me use his lift. I busted out an opti swap and cranked it over and sure as shit it fired up like brand new...no problems. So I jumped on Amazon and ordered a brand new MSD Pro-Billet Opti. We finished the tune and I drove it on the O'Reilly opti for a few days to make sure the problem didn't resurface. Once the MSD arrived, I swapped them out, returned the O'Reilly opti, and we dialed in the tune one last time since the MSD opti had a little better spark...then it was off to the dyno!
She made 458 RWHP and 414 RWTQ. Put her on a trailer, and took her home...then the next problem popped up.
I pulled her off of the trailer and parked her in front of my house. The next day I was challenged to a roll race in Mexico. As I was pulling onto the highway where this was set to take place, I got on the gas and it sputtered and died. Got it running long enough to get off of the highway, then ended up getting towed home...after a little diagnosis and a rented Fuel Pressure Tester from AutoZone, I figured out that my fuel pump was dead. So I made a few calls, and got another Walbro 255 fuel pump. Thanks to my trap door mod from the last time i did this, the swap took me all of 45 minutes. Got it installed, cranked her over and ran like new. Now on to where I sit now....yes, another problem lol.
The next night, I was once again challenged to some racing in Mexico. Being as how I want to test out my new build, I accepted. I told them I would only roll race due to my rear end being a 10-bolt...after a little shit talking and ball busting, I found myself lining up for a dig race against an LS1 Trans Am with bolt ons and a 100 shot. I bogged HARD off of the line and he jumped about two cars out on me...I was reeling him in on the top end and ended up a car back when we shut them down. A few minutes later I was challenged by an Evo claiming he had 350 WHP. I agree thinking he is lighter with AWD, but has much less hp, so I should take this one. I launched ok, but was burning clutch at 6k pretty bad...when she finally grabbed I was about 2 cars back and stayed there until we shut down............when we got back, I asked him about his power again and he said it was 350 WHP uncorrected...........balls, but it was a good run nonetheless.
As I am driving home I hear a popping sound every time I accelerate or decelerate. After some investigation, I find that when I launched from a dig the second time, the torque ripped the bolt out of the front torque arm mount where it bolts into the tailshaft, and took all of the threads with it........fml.
So as I sit right now I have a new UMI Torque Arm Relocation Crossmember sitting in my bedroom next to a new UMI Torque Arm. They will be installed this weekend and she will be back up and driving.
So here is a list of everythi g that has changed since the last update:
- Engine is running GREAT, and makes good power
- interior is almost completely restored, only minor things to button up
- New Polished ZR1 Rims, 17x9.5 fronts, 17x11 rears
- New tires all the way around to include 315 Nitto 555Rs in the back
- full exterior detail
- Custom True Dual Exhaust System
- All new tint to protect the new leather seats
Next steps are:
- Install new Torque Arm and Relocation XMember
- Install new Electric Cutouts in exhaust
- Convert to E85 for racing
- Lay off new Strange 12-Bolt Rear End with 4.10s
- New Clutch
- Finish Interior
- Refresh paint
- All new suspension
Oh.....and she is paid off, and I am now making payments on my new truck which is a 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 with a full extended warranty. No more daily driver problems lol. The SS now resides in a storage unit in town and is a weekend driver haha. By April the SS should be completely track ready!
When I get home I will post the dyno video and idle video with new exhaust.Last edited by BlackWidowSS; 08-21-2014 at 07:58 AM.
