Quick performance 9"
So I bought a new quick performance 9. I was always under the impression that ur drive shaft would have to be shorter. My yoke is 3 3/4 long, and I have 2 1/4 of the yoke sticking out of the tranny. Anyone in here have a qp 9 in there car?

Was that measured with the weight of the car on the ground?
The housing itself is larger which moves the pinion out further. Measure the distance from the center of the axle to the center of the u joint cap on the yoke. It's longer than a 7.5" 10 boltChris

You should have 1/2" to 1" clearance on the output shaft of the trans. Get the car at normal ride height, loosen the rear u-joint bolts, and push the DS forward into the trans tailshaft housing until it bottoms out. Pull it back until the rear u-joint seats in the yoke. The distance it moves backwards is the clearance. You want at least 1/2" clearance on a "stockish" application, no more than 1" on a high HP setup. If you have more clearance than that, the DS is too short.
