Knock knock..
So my fresh 383 has a quiet knocking noise, doesnt get louder or anything with revs just speeds up,and is present at cold start and once warmed up..At first I was scared and thought it was the beginning of rod knock but I used a stethoscope and each cylinder is fine,at the oil pan all you can hear is the oil pump..But when I touch the bellhousing you can hear the knock..From what I can see the flexplate looks fine,no visible cracks, and its a brand new TCI unit on top of that.Flexplate and TC bolts were locktite'd when I installed them so I cant see it being those..Im starting to think maybe its a lifter and its being amplified through the bellhousing?? The knock is at the same speed as the sewing machine sound of my roller rockers, another reason Im suspecting a lifter or something valvetrain related..Any guesses on what this may be?

If you adjust your valves, does it change? Are you running a factory oil pan?

If it was a rod knock I'd say it'd have gotten worse by now. How does your oil look?
