Now, to address some other questions. A 24X needs a '96-up 4L60E because of the 3-2 downshift strategy. A 4L80E is a paperweight. It eats 50 more RWHP than a 4L60E, and will slow the car down a guaranteed 2/10s compared to a properly built 4L60E. The 4L80E isn't "bulletproof". They have huge issues with bushing failure that leads to very expensive hard parts replacement. They also eat rear bands, and the early units were plagued with pressure issues. Yes, the 700 and 4L60E are basically the same transmission as far as the gear train goes. Many parts are interchangeable. To put a 700 in a '94-Up F-Body, you'd have to source a '93 F-Body TV cable, TV cable bracket, and a '93 throttle body that has a TV cable pivot. 700s are also finicky with governor tuning. As far as the strength of the 4L60E? They're all '60Es in the picture in my signature. We have them in 4200# B-Bodys running high 9's.
