To increase fuel economy, you will want to increase timing in the lower rpm, low to midrange load areas. This kills your emissions passage capability, but can net at 1-2 MPG increase on the highway.

dont trust the stock gauges, datalog and watch what it shifts at and what your max rpm is between shifts. if i trusted the stock gauge my car is shifting at 6600 and the heads cam car shifts at 7k. both are set for 5744 lol

FWIW Tunercats now scales your shift points/TCC along w/ the speedo recalibration for gear changes on autos. Works good for stock cars, I'd imagine it'd at least give you a decent starting point on a cammed car.

Anything different from factory will cause the tranny to shift at a different RPM because now the presence of additional Tq and horsepower, the pcm cannot keep up. and if you have a good size stall it becomes more apparent, I have had to set some shift points as low as 5400 in order for the trans to shift at the desired RPM..
