    Default first time drag racing

well it was my very first time drag racing at the track yesterday, ran against a 05ish turbo mustang, he won he ran high 12 mid 13, I gotta look at the slip, I ran a 13.9. I launched around 3500 rpm tires where 255 mt/dr at 20 psi. my reaction time was 1.05 my 60ft was 2.05 and my mph was 97... my second run my tire pressure was at 17 psi and I launched around 3000 rpm ran a 14.16 my reaction time was 1.6 my 60ft was 2.5 and 104mph. my second run I wasn't paying attention as you can tell but if I had im sure I would have ran around 13.4 maybe. I guess not bad for a first timer!

It look as if lowering your tire pressure hurt you second run. Maybe I'm missing something but how would paying better attention lowered your ET? Congrats on getting out to the track and getting over the first time jitters/insecurities.

Congrats on getting to the track. Is your mind racing now thinking of ways to drive better and go faster? If you're referring to the reaction time lowering your ET it doesn't work that way. The clock starts when your front tire breaks the beam not when the light turns green. Lots of people think that.

hmm I didn't know that always thought if your reaction time was good then your et should be good. and yes I didn't feel so nervous the second time and I think so with the tire pressure. when I get better at running this car it should be doing mid 12s. also I was shifting around 6000 rpm

is it spinning or bogging out of the hole? my guess would be bogging. whats happened different on your 1st and 2nd run, going from 97 to 104 mph is a big change.
any info on the car? mods? manual i assume?

with a decent 60 foot, and trapping 104 you should be well into the low low 13s.
sounds like you just need some practice.
