Oh thanks PoPo…
But after seeing this, I don't think my 195s would be appropriate for this build. They're decked down to the point that any sizable boost is pretty much out of the question. As I have them setup on my build, they're running right at 12.5:1 compression and I don't know if there's much that anyone could do to change that.
They're NASTY for a 350, 355 or the lighter cam'd 383 NA, with a splash of the juice build, tho'…
And I will leave this with the provision that there is PUHLENTLY of room for someone who actually understands the fine print on this art, to correct me. But that's my honest understanding of the sitch…96 Z LTx. 396 Forged Eagle BE, AFR195s, CR 12.5:1 Comp Ultra-Pro Mag1.6 RRs, Lt-4 Intake, 42lb FI, 58mm TB, Comp 292XFI Cam, Kook LTs, PerformaBuilt Lvl-3, SS 3600, 4" DS, Spooled Strange D-60 w/5.13s, BMR K-mem & A-arms, Hotchkis out back, Mazeire, MSD Digi-6 , Nano-N2O, 75 shot: 7.28 @ 95.7 1.6 60' - New Build: NA-SF 7.4 1.6 60' 93 Mph

Those heads would still be ok for boost. You can easily build a zero decked engine with the chambers on those heads and some -20 cc pistons and come up with 9.5 compression on a 383. (that's using the 58.5 you specified in your other thread. If that's changed, then it's still possible with a larger dished piston or by setting the piston farther in the hole) The only real issue you might run into is deck thickness, but it really shouldn't be a problem IMHO until you're trying to push 20-25 psi, and even then as long as you have done your homework, use quality parts and keep detonation under control, shouldn't be an issue. If I weren't going a different direction with my build I would have no qualms about using heads like yours to top my 383.

Yea that's one of the things I noticed about your heads when you were talking about them. Id say it wouldnt be very beneficial to the build I'm doing. Thanks for your honest opinion and not just trying to make a sell. Glws
And thanks popo for the potential help if any one comes across some more for sell that would work better with my build point them my way!

OH! Well good to know… Thanks for the info brother.
And BTW: I LOVE your signature… We're all Jarheads in this house, (Ladies excluded) and I've told both my sons about your sig and gotten two good belly laughs out of 'em. 'Cause it is SO TRUE! But you'd truly have to BE a Marine to know that… .
I literally, still laugh out loud when I read it.Last edited by OVA1; 09-29-2013 at 03:47 PM.

Oh Lordy no… I am long ago old enough to know about the reality that comes along with 'what goes around, comes around principle'. You can call it kharma, ying/yang… doesn't matter, it's all observations of the same principle (reality) and while not screwing others is not a guarantee that one will not get screwed, it sure as hell sustains the right to fully expect that the other party is honest in their dealings.
So, you are ever so welcome and while I am no expert in any of this, you can flat take it to the bank that I would never intentionally screw anyone over car parts and I sure expect that you feel the same way about it.
And Indeed Sir Popo, thank you for the lead, that's a heads up play, right there.
I am intrigued with the info coming in from 94blackbird above, tho'. I never considered a dish piston… (like I said, I'm no expert… If I haven't done it already, it's probably because I didn't know I could.)
I can tell ya that these heads work great… I've got a combo of several other things happening on my car that have kept her out of the runnin' for fast ETs and Trap speed at the track. But the engine on that car is fundamentally STRONG! And this car is a MONSTER on the street. It's VERY difficult to get a run on the street anymore, except the kids with absolutely no hope of winning and want to race us, because it brings up THEIR STOCK…Originally Posted by Ricer

I finally got the car back on the rack today and I found that I've bent the frame… There's some rot in front of where the Lower control arms are located and I have pulled the frame back because of it. Now, true enough, there's some pretty severe rot, but… that it pulled that frame back like it did; it's got the axle so far back that the Drive shaft is barely long enough to stay in the tranny.
Point being that we're making power… and no small reason for that, are those heads. I'm telling ya that someone with a smaller displacement setup would be KILLIN' IT, with those heads.Last edited by OVA1; 09-29-2013 at 03:48 PM.
