PLEASE READ FIRST!!! IF NOT IN PROPER THREAD I WILL REMOVE AND MOVIE IT JUST TELL ME BUT IM DESPERATE AND ASKING EVERYONE!! NO ONE HERE CAN FIGURE THIS OUT!! PLEASE I NEED HELP DESPERATE!!!

I have a 94 z28 camaro and it runs real rich. Blows black smoke and before everything was done to it it would run ok when cold then when it got hot it would sputter real back and misfire and have no power at all and roll black smoke. Would want to take off but no power to push it. It would scream but the motor wand or car would go just not like it should. So we changed cap and rotor plugs and wires opti resealed EVERYTHING on motor and under car, PCV valve new intake boot and intake filter new coolant temp sensor new fuel pump about 2,500 dollars worth of parts and work. Now when started it tuns fine and idles fine even when warms up but when you drive it, it runs fine under 2000rpm and just at cruising speed but getting on it hard and above 2000rpm it just falls on its face and runs like crap kinda like before blows smoke and what not. So half of its fixed what do i do for the other half. lol we are changing the MAP sensor too here shortly. My guy said it seems like timing is off in it. Has a little backfire sometimes. Check Engine Light or SES was on too idk about still but it was being triggered. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!! There is also no wiring in the ECU plug in to read scan codes because some idiot before me had to have removed them.

Make sure the opti was indexed properly when it was reinstalled. Seen it too many times people getting the drive shaft for the opti in a tooth off and it causes it to run normal down low and light throttle, but fast throttle and RPM's it runs like crap.

Agreed - everyone says it's impossible on the 1995 engine but I've done it.

ICM is often the culprit for issues that only occur when warmed up.

You can try replacing it, and spacing it off the head with washers.

i had almost same issue. start up and run good wen cold. warms up and would spit, sputter, blow black smoke, wouldnt rev past 2500rpm. checked codes and i got 2 codes. forgot what they wer but it was somethin signal high and something signal low. did a lil research and came to the conclusion.... opti. bought a whole NEW unit and helped a little. i got new icm and coil and that gave me a lil more pep and car ran smoother. but it still felt like it was holding back and it would miss and sputter wen warmed up. i got another opti for a good price and decided ill just change it again just to see.... problem solved. she ran like a champ. i say double check plug wires just to see if u might have 2 in the wrong spots. then do new icm and coil. if problem still there then replace opti with a whole new unit. like a dynaspark or something
