    Default Mercon V in 4L60E

Has anyone used MERCON V in their trannys instead of DEXRON III? I am installing my Yank SS3600 soon and after draining the trans I have a case of Merc V that I want to use. I looked up information about merc v and its supposed to be a replacement to DEX III, it meets and exceeds all the propertied of DEX III. Anyone done this / think this is a bad idea? Car is stock motor stock tranny.

I don't Ford produces it, but they use it in their cars mostly. Regardless I've read it is a certified replacement to ALL older Mercon and Dexron fluids. It is made to work in trannys that used Mercon and that used Dexron. I think some Ford trucks used Dex III...

I used it when I rebuilt my trans and installed the stall converter. Seems fine so far.

I did it when I swapped my transmission with the new engine. The guy who was helping me has been doing it for years and never had any issues

Awesome guys thanks for the info. That will save me some bucks for sure don't have to buy a whole case. When you do a converter tranny drain and refill how much fluid do you put in?
