Also wondering how you are coming on this. I would for sure suggest not using a 76 for your goals. I still suggest going with the FI SX80, it is rated for 1300hp, and is far more efficient than a PT88, along with a little better spoolup. The PT88 is really old technology, also if you are interested, the guy i bought my Y2k from has some Innovative 88mms off his pro mod car he is selling for $1k each. Said they make insane power.

800rwhp is not a problem for a T76 on a 355ci... especially a T76GTS. The turbo is plenty capable... it is a matter of the heads/cam combo he matches up with it.

I haven't seen results from the SX80 or ST series turbos... as far as being far more efficient... don't know about that until I see the results. What I do know is that the PT88 has been making 900+rwhp for many years, and still continues to.

    Parish made ~1050rwhp @ 24psi thru a 4L80e in his truck with a 408ci and PT88

    Supposedly one of Jose's customers made 102xrwhp @ 21-24psi with a PT88 and 355ci LT1.

Purevil (local guy here) made ~mid 800's rwhp @ 14psi and 93 octane with his 408ci LSX

Mightymouse was around 980rwhp I believe with his PT88 setup

Many a Ford 306-347 have made over 1000rwhp with PT88's.

I have built quite a few LT1 turbo kits, and what I know is that space is tight in the engine bay... and if you want to avoid a big T6 turbo (like a Y2k 88mm), then I would go with a PT88 without a doubt. Now, if you don't care about space and will stand the radiator up... I would just go with an S88 and make 800rwhp @ 12-15psi.

my point exactly, why push it that hard when a large frame can do it much more easily and reliably. I ran a 75mm S400 on my GN for 2 years, and pushed it to high 600s whp a few times, at around 16psi. Didnt want to take the stock motor any higher. If your looking to make that kind of power, making the turbo fit is a small part of it. That is partially why i went with a 80mm this time, I should be able to get about 650whp on pump gas and around 12psi, and 800whp up around 18psi, thanks to my new heads

Problem with the ST series larger frame turbo's is space. There's just not a lot. It's the primary reason why I stuck with the 76, so I wouldn't have to do a TON of modifications under the nose of the car.

heres how my GT42 mounts, thats on the previous car, mine will have a notched out radiator support for more room, i think with a few tweaks i could have room to go bigger.
