Do you leave off a 2 step or just hold the throttle part way?

OP, if you've already got the lock, just remember most have a instructions noted 30 second hold time rule. Meaning that's conservative so you don't damage anything. If you are the first to stage, Just keep your foot on the brake. As soon as the opponent trips the staging lights, hit the lock and bring the revs up. Third green release the lock and do your thing. That shouldn't be 30 seconds of time unless the opponent is being a real asshole about staging.

Ok! Ill give that a try before i go anywhere with the drift knob idea.
Staging up there can be a real shitshow with the incline, so ive defiantly sat at the line for 30 seconds before, but i still think i can make it work.

    Thanks guys!

Yeah, just have your foot on the brake and once the other guy trips the staging lights, hit the lock and be quick setting up for the launch. I know at most of the tracks I've been at, especially on street or TNT nights, as soon as both cars are fully staged the tree comes down.
