Yeah I hope so too, I mean the car runs great and pulls hard to about 5k and kinda falls over it feels like. It did run 13.6 at 102 with no tune may 1st with almost no miles on everything on a 90 degree day. Just been working the bugs out since putting a motor in it.

The DTC 43 says you have an open or short KS circuit. PCM puts +5v on the wire and the KS drives it down to about 2.5 volts (key on engine off test) . DTC 43 says the PCM is seeing 4.1 volts OR ground on the wire so the KS circuit is open or shorted to ground. Pull connector off sensor, key on engine off you should have 5volts on the wire. The KS should read 3.3K to 4.5K ohms to ground if you test KS terminal w/o connector on it to chassis . The DTC will pull max retard all the time effecting performance. Nt sure why you KC on the data log is incrementing w/o a sensor unless the DTC is intermittent. Also at startup cranking the engine will bump KC into the thousands each start, that's normal operation, if it bumps a lot after startup is completed, then you are getting knock... By the way OBD1 and OBD2 (96 and up) KS's are not compatible, will cause DTC 43, also non F-Body KS could cause DTC 43. Make sure KS is 3.3K to 4.5K ohms ref data from shbox.com http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#knock_sensor

The code is gone after I unplugged it and popped the wire back on, been gone for over 100 miles now. Car seems to be running good minus poor mpg still.

DTC 43 pulls a VARIABLE timing, apparently based on a calculation reflecting various engine operating parameters. I've seen many DTC 43 data logs that show anywhere from 0 to max (usually 15*) retard.

It is my understanding the "knock count" is also a value calculated based on engine operating conditions. I have seen knock retard with no incrementing of the count, and knock count incrementing with no activity on the knock sensor. The PCM appears to ignore the increasing knock count, until it sees an actual knock signal from the knock sensor, then it will start pulling timing in response to the knock count as well.
