Default Help Please Alternator Ground Question

OK my alternator has a negative cable, from the battery, bolted to the back of it.

    Is this correct?

I thought the alternator is already grounded, via its own casing, since it is bolted to the engine (bracket), which is grounded.

Should I instead ground this "extra" cable to the chassis, even though there is another ground cable from the battery already attached to the chassis?

Thanks for anyone who can help here.

I've only seen a positive cable on an alternator unless it was an old school Chevy with the ground bolted to the bracket.

Actually thats fine. Making sure the alternator is extra ground is ok. I actually have about 4 extra grounds on my car. One of them is to the alternator.

Extra ground is good to help prevent voltage drop

OK, so I guess I'll keep it how it is. Just wanted to make sure it isn't messing with my electrical system.

    Thanks for your replies guys.
