4L60E Shifting Issue : Any transmission scientists on here?
Ok i put this here because i dont believe its in the tune, but could be. I have a 94 Z28, 4L60E recently built. It is still all factory setup for shifting through the PCM. The car shifts fine on the street (where i want it). When i race the car and bow up on the converter the 2-3 shift is high and somewhat slow. In the tune i have the 1-2 shift MPH set at 1 and the RPM at 5300 and shifts exactly 6000. So i set the 2-3 MPH at 2 and RPM at 5100...still shifts at like 6600. Dont know what i need to do to back down and "control" the 2-3 shift. 3-4 is also somewhat high and slow as well. Any facts or opinions on this will be appreciated. Also the car is a N/A 383 thats a shade over 400 RWHP.

Since i noticed it Mr.Ryan, if you dont mind would you elaborate on the LS PCM swap? Wandered if you could do that and run the individual coils with an added crank trigger or sensor? Ive been curious about the swap. But we can move this talk to the tuning area if we need to.

I may be turning this into a tuning thread but.... i looked at my table in tunercats for shift time vs. %tps vs. shift and the 2-3 and 3-4 is set at 6.375 sec? Somebody explain why this doesnt look right to me.

4L60Es are notorious for a long 2-3 shift in factory form. We do quite a few modifications to correct just this specific area. Mechanical, pressure, and timing modifications need to be made. They aren't just "shift kit" modifications. Many of them are internal. It's a common complaint on a stock 4L60E to have a "bang the rev limiter on the 2-3 shift".

I would zero the shift time table out. I zero all of mine and my customers cars out.

Ok thanks, yeah i was thinking for some reason the converter was confusing the shift settings. I think i will adjust the shift time tables first. Anymore input from anyone will be great also.
