    Yes you can.

But IMO it's FAR more time consuming to remove the dashboard, which needs to come out to completely remove the box.

there is one bolt right behind the intake that goes through the firewall into the box, don't miss that one. it's hard to see and ya wouldn't think there would be one that far over, lol.

To bring this thread back up to the top, does anybody have any tips for doing this? Id like to remove my HVAC box/lines and install a block-off plate.

There is a guide IIRC on LS1tech.

It is a very time-consuming job because there are DOZENS and DOZENS of 7mm screws that need to come out. Once you think you have them all you've got about 12 more to go. Endless modules to unplug, wire connectors, vacuum lines, etc.

I did this a couple weeks I'll try to remember the steps.
First start by removing the a-pillars then the upper dash very vjmry carefully.
Second remove the kick panels that run along door.
Then remove panels on under side of dash some phillips and mostly 7mm.
Start removing the faces in the radio section and you'll see more 7mm screws to start removing hvac controls, radio connectors and any screws you see.
The two screws right above gauge cluster and the driver section of dash should come out then gauge cluster comes out. You have to drop the steering shaft at this point. Then the two "shiny" 1/2" nuts that have the ground wires one on left side of car and one on rightside
Then just look at underside of dash and look for any relays, wires, connectors and disconnect from metal
piece that runs all the way across the car and two 10mm in center on the trans tunnel. Theres alot to remove.
Then about 5 screws on top of dash where upper dash was covering.
Now try and remove dash, Im sure there something you'll miss just find whatevers hangingup.
Ok now dash is removed you can start on the hvac. There are 4 10mm screws on bottom of unit on the inside of car and on the out side, you"ll have to romove the.computer first to get to the 10mm screws you can see and one behind the head, I didnt get that one so I just yanked it alittle from the inside and the whole unit came out easily.
Now a delete panel.and do everything the same but backwards.

Just to add... I know you guys are talking about removing the whole hvac system, but if you just want to delete the AC box but keep heat just take a hammer to the box for a few minutes till it's flush with the firewall and i believe bmr makes a block off plate but i made my own with a buddies template.. pulling the dash is a JOKE

If you knock the box down till its flush with the firewall, what do you do with the HVAC lines?

delete them along with compressor. My vote is doing it the right way the first time. there is a lot of crap under the dash that you can ditch.

the dash removal isn't that bad. and putting back in is easier. I had the dash installed in 45 minutes.
