Default Calling all Playstation [PS3] gamers!

I bought a new TV and surround sound a month or so ago and part of the deal got me a $150 gift card to best buy. Now I want to get a PS3 so I can watch DVDs, blurays, and play games online with friends. The only problem I've run into is there are now two different generations of the PS3, the Slim and Super Slim.

Here's the break down of my options:

    500gb Super Slim with Assassin's Creed 3: $300
    250gb Super Slim with Uncharted 3: $270
160gb Slim with no games: $250
320gb Refurbished Slim with no games $250 [online purchase only]

I don't really know anything about those games, all I do game wise is sometimes play modern warfare with buddies online for fun. Biggest thing for me is reliability. I couldn't care less what bundle games are included cause it's likely I won't ever play them.

Question is how reliable is the super slim vs the Slim? Is anything over 160gb necessary? Is 500gb necessary for any reason? Refurbished, should I even consider one of these?

Just looking for some general guidance since I'm relatively lost in regards to gaming stuff.

250 is kinda high for a refurb and the super slim seems to be ok so far as I know and for a 30 dollar difference I would get the 500 gb drive because some of the installed games take GIANT updates ect. The ps system can be networked in to your home network and then you can share files ect. The big thing that I do is to vacuum it out along with the computer and the rest of the electronic stuff every time the house gets it because not only is the dust conductive but it can make stuff run hot and that will kill just about anything electronic.

Good info, I was wondering about downloading games cause I'd like to download the old Metal Gear games and stuff like that. My main concern is the uncertainty of a newer console.

I don't think you'd ever fill up a 160. Maybe if you start putting movies on it. I used to burn data discs off my computer and just play them in the PS3. I really don't use mine for anything other than a movie play and occasionally I'll game out. I usually do that when the weather is bad or something like that. Its is REALLY handy if you get snowed in, though haha.

Lots of visual horsepower, full bolt-ons, and a little spray....

I ended up getting a 160gb "Slim". The super slim would have been a pain to deal with in my tv stand and I trust the older design a little more.

Since it's winter time I've been playing little more, do we have a PS3 gamer tag thread? If so link me please.
