Default ls1 flyhweel to lt1 block?

i wanted to use the ls1 t56 on my lt1 .... its been done and there is some good how to articles (formula383.com). My question, I thought the ls1 flywheel wont bolt up to the lt1 block? Am I missing something.

I ended trading and my lt1 for a complete ls1 t56 and wanted to use diamond clutch kit.

The ls1 t56 won't fit into the lt1 the shaft on the front of the Trans is longer on the ls1 than on the lt1 you'll need to change the front shaft for it to work and as for the flywheel you can't use it the ls1 block is different therefore different hole patterns hope this helps

Pretty much sums it up. I'd stick with the LT T-56 anyways. Was before the tremec takeover of Borg Warner and shipment of the factory to Mexico.

yes correct.... ls1 bell along with a .5 spacer will fix the length issue.. and thanks for clarifying the flywheel... good thing the t56 shop im going with will add the correct flywheel to use.

in case some one is wondering why the trouble... really no trouble i started with a 93 t56 and wanted a 94 and up.. sold it and then bought a 95 with the same money... lol .. then traded the 95 t56 for a ls1 t56 straight up ..... i was going with diamond clutch kit any way so ls1 clutch style only 100 bucks more and could handle 100 hp more, steel pressure plate instead of aluminum, and came with a slave cylinder...so why not... only extra cost was the spacer so far.

I'm glad I could help, and to tell you the truth it's not all that hard to change the front shaft

the shop is telling me there's no need to change it... just add the spacer and keep the bell and im good to go... i think he said he will use a 350 flywheel that has the same bolt pattern as an lt1 but larger so it can use the ls1 style. Ill post details once he works everything out and i get the t56 back from him.
