Thread: OBD1 to OBD2

    Default OBD1 to OBD2

I know this may have been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything.

What "exactly" is involved in going from OBD1 to OBD2? Also, is it worth doing? I know the OBD1 PCM's can be tuned so much, as I have done, but my insurance company has a "good driver discount" if I plug in this device to my car, but it's an OBD2 device..

All I know is from 99% of the tuners I have spoken 2, the way to go is OBD2 to OBD1... I think the fact that OBD 1 has less sensors, there may be less parameters that need to be messed with, hence their prefernce....

PS--- FOR EVERYONE DOING THAT INTRUSIVE PROGRESSIVE "SNAP SHOT" thing that plugs into your port, or anything of the sort... I want you to know IF ANYTHING happens (IE accident) the insurance companies will use the information gathered from those units to try to wash their hands of you, or vice versa... opposing insurance companies will subpoena records from your insurance company, and if there is any fault from your negligence, you can almost guarantee a lawsuit...

I have allready testified in two of those cases......

In that case (for the two points you made), nevermind, what I got works,

Not that I'm a bad driver, if anything WAS to happen, I don't need something being made to make me look bad. I didn't think of it in that way before.

Yeah, and do you really want big brother storing all your data? They are already mandating recorders in all new vehicles. (Senate Bill 1813) This is the land of the free. Not land of the monitored (which it pretty much is already)

meh vehicles have been recording data since the 90's just you have to have a lawyer request it otherwise there is no way in hell you are getting the information. But I agree there is no point in using that snap shot shit. Probably that one time you go over 60% percent getting on the highway they are going to say no discount anyways
