Ever see a motor defy logic and basic science principles? Well this one does. Who ever said fuel, air, spark and timing will pop off any engine has clearly never come across this one.
Got timing down to perfect w/ the crank trigger @ 50* btdc. Found out the fp was dropping again but it wasn't voltage related. Since the opti is only now being used as a distributor only, the opti is no longer plugged in so the factory ecu doesn't see a signal and during cranking the fp drops. Fixed, hard wired directly to battery temporarily and fp is back during crank. So, I have fuel, I have stoopid spark from the blaster 3. 8hrs were spent turning this bitch over and burned up a brand new starter in the process. That's how much time we put into this POS yesterday and on the 5th hr it popped and only ran 11 seconds and was weak at that. But it ran. This was all w/ starter fluid the entire 8 hrs! We figured ok we got it sorted out, start it up not even 10 seconds later and it would never fire again. We even checked compression on all 8 cyclinders and each one is w/ in 3 psi of each other.
So wtf would cause a perfectly brand new engine w/ everything checked out not start? We even had 7 other pro guys come by and they all scratched their head. Makes no sense. W/ starter fluid it should fire.
All out of ideas except one. Part it out and keep the shell and start over w/ a LS. I can't bare to even look at the car now it's so heart breaking. Only reason I bought the c5z and my warrior was to fill the void and I'll be honest w/ you. It doesn't. Not even remotely close. My universe isn't right unless the srz is running...and I must be paying for past sins and am being held accountable cause lord knows I have a few. I've asked for forgiveness but I haven't paid enough I suppose.
Sean, I now know how you felt givin up the c5. I'm right there dude, I'm so there.................
I'm literally becoming ill over this.Last edited by The SRZ; 05-05-2012 at 10:18 AM.

I just read through and tried to get caught up... if im understanding this right, your using a opti for the 1x signal and a external 24x crank trigger? ive never had any luck using the external crank triggers, one day they are on and the next itll be off for no reason!? as a last ditch effort I would do exactly what I did and got with the efi connection hard parts. It sounds like one or both of your reference signals are getting messed up and throwing it off.... Just my 2 cents. hate to see you get this far and not enjoy it.... I can walk through your wiring to if you can draw up a diragram or take FAST's diagram and mark it up.
Currently in a Million pieces....

i feel your pain. i went through 2 years of fighting with a bad fast box and piss poor support from the guy we bought it from. we finaly had to call the bbb to get them to call us back. they finally brought us a test box. plugged it in and it worked fine.
double check your grounds. its crazy how sensitive these boxes are if the grounds are not directly on the battery. i am not familiar with the 24x wheel. is that were your getting your #1 location also?
i am not sure were you are in fl. if your in the central fl area i could come take a look at it.

No, TOT I'm using a FAST crank trigger and the opti has been converted to 1x signal for cam reference.
I'm in Panama City, thanks for the offer. As for the grounds go they're bare metal. My XM box did have bad ground jumpers that were repaired but they couldn't tell me what they were to though. XFI mother board was replaced at the same time.
I am going to go pick up a ignition switch just for giggles even though mine looks perfectly fine. I can only attribute this strange phenom to electrical of some sort...as the classic fast did the same thing on the car when we took it off a functioning car to test it on mine.93 SRZ
