HV Oil Pump Pick Up. Hamburger Oil Pan
As I'm wrapping up my build I noticed that the oil pump pick up i have for my 7qt Hamburger oil pan says standard volume. I am running an Melling 155HV pump. The pick up will fit on the high volume pump and the surface area of the screen look decent.
Anyone have any ideas if I can get away with using the standard volume pick up on my HV pump?95 Impala SS Clone

On mine the diameter of the pickup tube was larger on the HV than Std. volume. If yours fits in the pump housing and is the correct height for your pan I don't see a problem. Don't forget to tack the tube to the pump!

it really just depends on the pickup diameter in the pump. there are 2 diameters for sbc pumps, 5/8th and 3/4" tubes. generally a hv pump will be a 3/4" and thats what you need to look for. personally i'd just run a standard pump though. there isn't a need for the extra volume or any more pressure, plus its less stress on the oil pump drive gear.
