    Default Wheelie Poppers Enter HERE!!!

So I just watched a video of Joe's (RamAir95TA) 10.82 run and he pulled the front tires on the car. I have a build that will be similiar if not SLIGHTLY bigger than his (he has the A.I. 200cc Heads, I am going to be using the A.I. 215's) so I will have the capability to pull my fronts if I can get her to hook....SO...with that being said I have a question lol.

What was your reaction the FIRST TIME you guys lifted your front tires off the ground?? I have never done it and I am not sure what my reaction will be so I thought it would be interesting to hear your stories lol. What was it like?

    I'm honored.

If you watch the 10.84 run, that was my first time ever pulling both wheels. At the time it just felt like any other hard launch, but there's never an instant where you feel the wheels lift and come back down. It just feels like a hard, very smooth launch, that's about it. Of course I can't speak for a more aggressive setup say on a transbrake in the 1.2s and 1.3s...

And while the power/torque/gearing of the car is important, suspension is KEY. Some of my older videos show lame launches, sideways launches, one tire lifts, etc. I've since added a solid rear swaybar (Wolfe) all tubular front suspension, a 6-pt cage, 275# drag springs, and most importantly QA1s. Couple all of that with a chassis designer/engineer's suggestions and help and you get a suspension that is set up perfectly.

Side note - on the 10.82 run the center console lid flipped back and broke off the hinges. After the run I found it in the back seat and thought WTF?!

lol first thing to go though your mind will be ooooooooohhhhhh shiiiiiittttttttttt.

it depends on how hard it leaves and how i pulls them up. i ave driven several car for other people. the first car i ever drove that really pulled them up was a 9.90 sg Plymouth arrow. it was a dead strait tube car with big tires. went a to b with no fuss. best 60 ft was a 1.310. then the current ride. it used to pick them up maybe 1 ft carry them a few feet then run out the back. then we changed to a fti convertor. then she be came a hand full. we have made major setup changes to keep them under control. here is a clip with the old suspension. it went 1.303 pedaling it.

i agree with both ramair95ta and big cat. you do get that oooohhhhh shhiiiittt feeling because of such a hard launch but you really dont feel the wheels come up or come back down. mostly i was just used to tires spinning a lil but when i finally got them to hook up its just a lil suprising

First time mine came up it wasn't much maybe 10 inches and carried for 6-8 feet. I didn't even know it happened, felt like it boged on the launch to me. I got back to the pits and couldn't figure out why my wife and friend were smiling! I was confused about their excitement till I watched the video. I'd been spinning the tires or boging off the line for several weeks trying to get the right combo of tire psi, rpm, and shock settings so when it happened I thought it was another wasted pass.
