    Default Starting Problems

well guys im back for more help. i just recently installed many new parts on the 'Maro and i keep having more and more problems
    the new parts are:
    Radiator
    Thermostat
Heatercore hose(had 2 make my own)
    Battery
    Starter
    Spark Plugs(NGK Platinums)
    Spark Plug Wiress
well anyway when i turn the ignition to start the car the starter sounds like its engaging for half a second and turns the motor then just keeps spinning but not turning or touching the flywheel. this is exactly what the old starter sounded like when it was going bad but how the hell could a $200 starter go bad within weeks?
also i wanted to ask you guys about pushstarting the car i do it in first but its a mission and it has to be like a 10mph roll lol(big tires are probably y) but i've heard people start in 4th cause its a smaller gear and it takes less effort.
    thanks in advance

I'd definitely pull the starter and get it checked, sucks since it's new but if it's a reman it's very possible it wasn't right when you got it. Did it ever work or has it done this since you installed it? Double check and make sure all the teeth are present and not rounded on your flywheel. You might look into a vette starter like this one: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_Starter-Worldwide_5849098-P_123_R|GRPSTRTAMS_539226739___
Just ask for a starter for a 96 vette, they're smaller and cheaper than the f-body starters.

As for push starting I've done it in 2nd, never tried it in 4th.

hey man thanks a lot i bought the exact starter that you said and its amazing it sounds a lot better when the engine turns over and i could go for a bigger exhaust now 2 and it was about half the price/size of the old one and i bought a belt tensioner with the same money and still had 30 dollars left over. Now i have to buy some injectors a new intake elbow and i'm gonna be needing a new clutch pretty soon (theres 120K miles on this one) and i'm gonna be looking into some 4.10 gears and a BIG LE cam and some port polish the intake and heads and an all new valvetrain what you think id be pushing at the wheels? and any recommendation for the above? my goal is set at 450 at the wheels but i don't have a lot of cash for now its pretty much a budget build
