lexan
Ok so I'm thinking about putting lexan windows in my stock doors and gutting them to get more weight out of the car. Has anyone on here done this? If so how big of a PITA was it to do?

There are far better things you can do to reduce weight.
Once you go lexan and gut the doors, you're looking at a dedicated race car.-Joe-

When you put lexan in the doors you have to fabricate a metal frame for them for the top part. They cannot be raised and lowered. They are way too flexible and will bow out. Take the door bars out if you want to shed weight in the doors and get some carbon fiber panels. That will knock out 18lbs in each door.

It already is pretty much a dedicated race car, I only drive it to the track and home. I thought about the door bars and panels but figured I could get even more out with lexan. I might just do the door bars and panels first and see where that gets me. Thanks for the reply guys, much appreciated.

I've never heard of lexan side windows, but I know there are companies where you can easily get ahold of rear hatch windows and windshields. If you have a plexiglass shop in your area, stop by and tell them you want to replace your side windows with lexan. They can probably take your stock glass and re-create from lexan. But yes, you'll have to hard-mount them with a frame. They'd be stationary.
