Default comp cams 5/16 stepped guide plates?

Will the comp cams 5/16 stepped guide plates work in the LT1 engine? Ive heard there are differences between regular sbc guide plates and lt1 guide plates? Is that even true?

Any help is appreciated as im in the middle of a top end build as we speak. Thanks

I actually prefer stepped plates, but the Dart Pro 1s I bought said in the paperwork that came with them that stepped plates are not recommended.

No reason was given as to "why", but I just followed Dart's recommendation - not to use them.

I've never checked to see if there's a difference between L98 and earlier engines and LT1/4s as far as guide plates.

well i installed them on the heads today and it really looks like its going to kick the rocker sideways unfortunatly. So i think there may be a slight difference. Ordered trickflows as per Lloyd now

i couldn't use stepped guide plates on my dart LT1 heads or my stock ones. the rocker came too close to hitting them.
