but what does or what is HDR? is it like a photo shop?

High Dynamic Range. It requires a camera that can take multiple exposures.. Overexposed, and underexposed. Then combining them to get this effect. Overexposed (too much light, or too bright of an image) shows shadows wells, and underexposed (not enough light) shows highlights and brighter areas better. That's how the clouds came out great on the first pic. I was not able to do enough settings with this camera to get the most ideal image, for example you see some pictures where the sky is just drowned out, thats because I was not able to get it underexposed enough, it was way too bright out.. A good HDR program is Photomatix. It requires "tone mapping" which is adjusting colors, highlights, shadows, saturation etc.

The transparent hood pic was not HDR. just 2 pics taken. One with the hood up, and one with the hood down. Photoshopped with added transpareancies on the layer of the hood.
