They can be as cheap as 200 bucks all the way to expensive out the back. My personal set up that I have at home was 120 for the piping and the mufflers are going to be around 40 a piece for around 230 after I buy all the hardware and what not .
I assume you have long tube headers already?

Going to need long tube headers. Then like I said it is up to the type of set up you want loud quiet , Dumped before the axle over the axle etc.

They are different from exactly how they sound. I have noticed that most people get x pipes on ls1/lt1 cars
This is what I personally have
Hooker Super Comps
3 inch Xpipe kit. No Mufflers yet

an h-pipe will give you a deaper tone and be able to tuck up more with a little more fab work. also depending on the torque arm setup and h-pipe might be your only option but you said you were stock so it doesn't matter to you.
you could just get the summit or jegs universal 2.5" or 3"h-pipe or x-pipe kit, the mufflers of your choice (most use bullets for the most ground clearence).
i usually will get a spare piece of pipe aswell. they come in 4 ft sections.
i get the hangers from autozone as well as the turndowns.
i have built probably 2 dozen setups using the above.1996 ss m6 white and black hardtop
custom everything, cam, heads, 8.8 w/4.10s, duals you name it.
