I tried to "clean and rebuild" a delco opti when I first started messing with my car years ago. It started but would barely idle and it wouldn't rev past about 3000 rpm. Put on a new delco and it fired up, idled good and ran great. I never got any codes with the bad opti. So I guess it's possible to have a bad one and not know it. I know when I had arcing delco wires and it was way down on power on the dyno it seemed to run and drive fine. After seeing the lower than expected power level I checked and found 2 wires arcing, new wires and it felt like a whole new car. Hopefully a new opti will fix your issues. Does your opti have a warranty? If so warranty it, if not I think most will agree a delco is the way to go.
