    sorry perverts...... talkin bout tires

    im about to buy some used tires but they say they are shaved and have 3 heat sycles on them. i dont know what that means?

    It's done for better handling, but don't really know the details on how it's done. From what I understand, it's shaving off tread to get a lighter tire with more performance (less deflection from tall blocks of tread)

    Basically, you may be buying "new" tires, that have little tread on them. You need to ask how deep the tread is now.

    3/32nds there toyo r888's. i can pick a set up for 150bucks 305/35/18. not sure how good of tread that is. i might put 5k on a yr. that depth ok?

    Street tires normally have ~10/32s

    So, I take it, Comparing to normal street tire... you have a little less than 1/3 of the tread depth left. OR, compared to those tires brand new, you have 1/2 the tread. Keep in mind, once it gets CLOSE to bald... it will be illegal to use. Not sure what your local laws are on tread depth.
