I'm not sure I like the idea of soaking ignition parts in water. But to each their own.

As to using WD-40, it might work, but the dielectric grease acts as a sealant once it gets trapped between the boot and wire, keeping out the elements. MSD instructions call for using it, so that's what I used.

It's a rubber boot, it repels water.. it is not as if water soaks into it.. you realize stuff like wd40 is flammable right? So spraying down inigiton parts with a flammable product sounds a lot more risky than boiling it in water
