Chevy Luv coming through!!
Not sure if all of you are aware or not but a couple months ago I bought a 80 Chevy Luv for $300 with the stock 1.8 liter Isuzu engine. It cost me about $50 total for repairs the truck needed (rebuilt carb, plugs, cap, rotor and points.) and another $50 to get the tags and registration so $400 total. I've used the truck for two weeks straight now. The Camaro sits in a nice cozy garage!! The camaro took about $50 a week to drive to work and back which included the weekends to run errans. My daily comute back and forth to work is about 60 miles and takes anywhere from 40-50 driving time one way. Depending on traffic of course. Last week I put in $18 and change @ $1.89 per gallon to fill up the luv and used it all week including the weekend. It had just under a quarter tank when I filled up. This monday I put in $10 and I still have over a quarter tank left. Enough to get me home, back to work and home again and maybe enough to use for Saturday. This truck is really saving me some $$$ in fuel cost alone!! Woohoo!! Just thought I'd share my good fortune!! Take that civic owners!!

Hah! Im going through the same thing myself, although my situation is a little bit different....
I just recently traded in my Dodge Dakota 4.7L which got like 13mpg with my leadfoot + 32s and a few other extras... Used Mobil 1 from the beginning. I would drive it ALOT, so that adds up real quick.
Fast forward to about 3 months ago.... Just bought the F350 (7.3L Powerstroke), and what happens? My Fillups stay about the same ($60.00) but instead of going 220-250 miles or so on that tank in the Dakota, I usually get about 370-400 miles in the summer from the 350. The overhead display in the 7.3L usually agrees with my hand calculated mileage (In the powerstroke, usually 15mpg winter and 17-18mpg summer). Not only that, but apparently 16qts of Shell Rotella 15-40 and filter is cheaper than 7qts mobil 1 and a filter
I should have done this alot sooner.... I <3 DieselLast edited by Fixxer99TA; 03-25-2009 at 01:56 PM.

Wow plus you have enough power to haul just about anything!! My truck felt real weighted down and real sluggish the other day I was driving. Turned out to be a injured pigon that had landed on the tailgate slowing me down! haha! I kill me!

Glad to hear you're saving some $ in these times. Gotta love the Isuzu engines, they will run for ever and are still good on gas.
Yep its slow.
