Default '93 corvette rev limit backfire or valve float?

I was wondering how a stock '93 LT1 rev limiter works. I would think it cuts fuel, so how would it backfire....So I looked over a datamaster run file, the only related thing I see is an increase in manifold vacuum around the time it backfired. But it's still around the rev limit (6182). Datamaster must have a low sample rate because it never says 6200 rpm, but it hits the 6400 rpm histogram cell. The car isn't much, 700r4, 3.73's, LT4 hot cam, comp 1.6 rr, TrickFlow 16918 springs, tuning. Does it sound like a backfire or hitting the rev limiter. It broke traction during this run btw. Can't upload the datamaster file I guess..
