did i just kill my block
okay so i messed up .... so i run straight water in my cooling system. i knew that there was a freeze warning coming up soon ... i thought it was tomorrow night but when i got up at 7am and checked the temp it said 30*F ... i am now crapping my pants cause i didnt get any anti-freeze in the car yet.
what are the chances that i got lucky and every thing is okay ... and who thinks i just killed it... i know to wait till this afternoon when its well above freezing to check for leaks and before i try to start it.

It may not of frozen real hard. You need to open and drain the water now. If it's frozen thaw the ice slowly. You may have to replace the freeze plugs. And pray that's all. Maybe you will get lucky open all. Drains and warm up the block slowly and drain the water out. Wish you good luck .

Ya your probably fine...
Drain radiator and put a good chunk of antifreeze and go drive it... you'll know real fast if anything is wrong. .
A buddy of mine with a 66 chevelle had a 502 in it that ran high 9s on motor. .. ran straight water in it over last winter and actually no bs cracked the block open ...

Thats how my 93' caprice died. But it was closer to 20* during a blizzard. Cracked the block and the head. If it was only for afew hours I wouldnt worry That much. Drain it, fill it and dont do that again!

The only way it would have froze and cracked at 30° is if it was that temp for a week, possibly a month. That's a lot of surface to freeze
