Noob LT1 questions
I'm new to the forum as well as the ltx platform, although I've been doing my homework on the subject, and I was raised on small block Chevy (although I know the differences between gens I-II SBC), I was wondering if any of you guys with more familiarity with lt1's in particular could tell me what a good price on a used lt1 would be, what the best year(s)/which sources would be the ones to keep an eye out for, and what to look for in buying one in which I can't hear run (besides a compression test of course)? Sorry for my apparent lack of knowledge on the subject, any help would be appreciated thoroughly, thanks!

Hi... welcome to the site... alot of stuff goin on up there. First I noticed u posted in the ltx swap section...are u planning on swapin an lt into something unconventional?
U ask for what a good price for an lt is... well that varies... are u looking for stock or modified... what will ur build consist of. Tell us more.
Just know thay other than the distributor..higher fsctory compression and reverse flow cooling...the lt is similar to a gen one sbc .
Know that if ur just lookin for a stock motor to swap in...it sometimes helps to buy a wrecked donor car... with that being said... the vette and fbody lts will have aluminum heads and the b bodies will have iron heads and I believe a diff cam and lower compression.
Give us some more details and reconsider making an actual intro thread In the intro section so we can get to know u and what ur. goals are...
Once again..welcome...

Thanks. I have an '87 camaro sc with the 305 and th700r4, and I'm looking to swap in a stock (for now) lt1. I was under the assumption that all lt1's had aluminum heads, so I guess I'm specifically looking for a corvette/f body engine, because I want the aluminum heads. I'm learning something new already Thanks.
