You have a 97 though right? I think those are angled different since yours is a dual cat system. Mine is a 94. The passenger side one is facing towards the front of the motor. The only way to really get to it is to put your arm above the y pipe, but then you cant really move your arm very much. It just seems like it would be easier with the manifold out. It already needs to come off anyway to get a new gasket. It would be a lot easier to get it out with the manifold in a vice.

I finally got it out. I had to end up pulling the manifold to get it. Turns out it was the factory sensor so it took about an hour of soaking and some muscle to get it out. I had to cut the egr pipe off and take the dipstick out for the manifold to come out. Really ridiculous.
