    Default Fuel Pressure problem.

Here is the deal. About 7-8 years ago when my son owned the car he purchased a Racetronix 255 pump and hotwire kit. He installed the pump back then and never installed the hotwire kit. I purchased the car and installed the hotwire kit and built the 383 this last winter. It ran great till this past weekend when the fuel pump would intermittently not kick on. When it did kick on it had only 34lbs pressure with vac line disconnected from FPR. Only bled down 2lbs in 5 minutes. Ok i bought a new Racetonix 255 pump and installed it. Now it is only showing 37lbs with vac line disconnected from FPR and bled down to 28lbs in 5 minutes. Shouldnt i have closer to 43 and not bleed down that fast? Does this seem right? I do not have any fuel coming out of the unplugged FPR when checking pressure, so i am assuming the regulator is good.

I just rechecked it again and it still goes up to 37lbs and this time it only dropped 4 lbs in 5 minutes. Just got to thinking. Would a fuel filter restrict it enough to only have 37lbs? I do not know when it was last changed.

A plugged fuel filter would cause low fuel pressure. They are simple enough to change so I would start there. If you aren't sure when it was changed last it's definitely time to change it anyway.
